An Established Business Grows a New Branch

Golden Eagle Log Homes is a family business that grew from a successful building supply company. In 1966, Wally and Marlace Parmeter founded the Golden Eagle Building Center in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. With the knowledge obtained from building conventional framed homes and an in-depth understanding of the building products industry, the Parmeters decided to pursue their dream of building a log home, in which to raise their family.

The Parmeter family individually selected trees from their own property and carefully cut and dried the logs to their preference. The Parmeters, then, began construction on their log home after a year of careful preparation for their home. This construction did not go unnoticed by on-lookers, as the Parmeter family was approached by those who were impressed by the quality craftsmanship and beauty of the log home. This dream of a log cabin led to a small side-business, which began providing several custom log home packages to clientele.

In 1986, Wally and Marlace decided to pursue their love of log construction by officially founding Golden Eagle Log Homes. The sons, Jay and Tod Parmeter, cleared the land, built the shop, purchased and installed the machinery necessary to provide the clientele with the personalized log homes of which they had dreamt.

During the day, Jay and Tod ran the thriving building center and manufactured log homes long into the night. During this time, the company “board meetings” consisted of the family sitting outside their log cabin at their picnic table under the blue Wisconsin sky. The family’s dedication and love for creating log homes was the reason that the sales from these log homes quickly surpassed the sales from the building center.

A Second Generation of Craftsmen

Wally and Marlace retired in 1996 and left their business in the more-than-capable hands of their sons, Jay and Tod Parmeter. Jay and Tod continue to prove with their passion for log cabins that affordability and luxury are attainable at Golden Eagle Log Homes.

The company produces over 130 log homes each year. Each one of these log cabins is delivered with care, high attention-to-detail and top-quality personal service. Golden Eagle's success comes from a dedicated group of people devoted to the time-honored tradition of quality workmanship.

From the very beginning, the company has enjoyed continued growth, but the principle on which it all began remains the same -- to offer superior log homes at fair and affordable prices.
